I don’t think it’s just senility. He’s Bern showing signs of frontotemporal dementia for a while. Have you ever seen one of his interviews from the 90s? Still a terrible man, but at least he was coherent.

I mean I hate him, but I didn’t get that from this. To me it sounded like he was suggesting that her newfound supporters know very little about her, that they are fair-weather followers or something. It’s easy to imagine that one of his yes-men showed him a clip of a rally where somebody was fumbling for her last name, and he just took that idea and magnified a single example of something into “nobody knows”, like he always does.
