The #Mastodon crowd is making short work of the goals I’ve been setting for the Mastodon specific fundraiser for Harris for President. We are closing in on $13,000 and I’ve set the ambitious goal at $16,000. Countless boosts and comments have led to 183 contributions so far. I had aimed for 100 today, so being so near to 200 is amazing. Many contributions are for $5; some for significantly more.       A Threads account seems somewhat more likely as there’s already @potus@threads.net and @barackobama@threads.net, but it would be fantastic if the Harris campaign would set up a proper ActivityPub channel.

      Stuff like this will probably become more likely once Threads start federating both ways, so that the user base of Threads is available for organizations promoting themselves on Mastodon. But I feel like $30 000 should at least make them consider copy/pasting content to Mastodon.

        If I am reading it right, it’s now at $120k and shooting for $125k. That’s enough to get on their radar.

        Some free services (like buffer) let you post to threads twitter and mastodon at the same time. So no excuse here.

    Direct link. Currently at 27k.

    The idea is that if one is donating to the Harris campaign anyway, doing it under a shared Mastodon banner might push the Harris campaign towards posting on open platforms. So it serves a double purpose of fighting Trump and Musk at the same time.
