A powerful former North Dakota lawmaker has pleaded guilty to traveling to Europe with the intent to pay for sex with a minor. Ray Holmberg was indicted in October 2023.
Because even out of power he has a lot of power. I don’t think you spend however many years (25? I read it hours ago) making laws without picking up some owed favors along the way. Also, his cronies don’t wanna see him go down because it would mean that they could go down for their corrupt shit if they ever got found out in the future. Everyone involved has a shared interest in protecting his ass.
That’s just my very cynical take on it. There could be an actual, good, legitimate reason. But there’s probably not.
