JD Vance graduated from Yale Law School in 2013. On Sunday, a photo of him in drag while attending the law school surfaced. The photo was initially shared by activist Matt Bernstein on social media. After the photo went viral, Travis Whitfill, an Assistant Professor Adjunct in Pediatrics at Yale School of Medicine, claimed he was the source of the photo., US News News - Times Now
Nope. If I wanted to vote for Trump, I’d vote for Trump. No extra steps needed.
I’m voting for the party I believe in. And it’s the Green Party.
If your party is so afraid of losing, just because there are third parties, then they should get stronger candidates. Welcome to democracy. I get to vote for who I want. As is my right.
I feel sorry that a vote for a 3rd party (in the US) may lead to the opposition winning and people that vote that way are derided.
We have Mixed Member Proportional here in NZ and it may not be the best voting system but I think it beats First Past the Post. I also feel the voting for a president / legistave is a bit broken.
Yes, I too feel that the way I am being derided just because I am voting for who I believe in, is like this.
People have been bullying me for several days. All because I am voting for the Green Party because I belive in them.
You don’t have to feel sorry for that particular person, it’s likely they aren’t even able to vote. They are a forum slider here to shift attention away from our only chance to escape fascism.
You have had several other comments accusing me of this be removed.
The reason your comments are being removed is because you are pushing a false narrative about me, and you are being uncivil.
You are having your comments removed because you are doing that.
And I am reporting you for this one as well.
Please remain civil, and don’t falsely accuse me of anything. Thank you.
Are you really trying to tell Lemmy that you are so delusional that you think there’s even the tiniest of a shred of a chance of a third party victory? If your candidate got 5% of the vote it would be shocking and you know it.
Third parties are an absolute joke in the US in every case in recent US history. And that is because no serious individual would ever run for president in a scenario where they know without doubt that it’s impossible for them to win. They may all only exist at this point to divert votes away from whomever they hate most.
I didn’t talk about her odds at all. Should we ONLY vote for people who have a good chance to win? I’m voting for who I believe in. Accept it or not. LIke it or not. I’m still voting for her.
Then you have nothing to be afraid of, and no reason to get mad about other. She doesns’t matter, right? So why so mad if I vote for her?
Absolutely and unequivocally yes if any Republican is an option. Particularly someone like trump. Not even a moment’s hesitation, the answer should always be yes to that question in this situation.
What Internet trolls/shills always try to ignore is that I don’t give a shit who they vote for. We only give you push back because you’re hell bent on spreading bad ideas.
I absolutely and unequivocally disagree with you. I am voting for who I want to vote for. That’s my right as an American citizen. It’s a democracy.
And what “bad ideas” have I “spread?” I have simply said that I believe in the Green Party and am voting for Jill Stein.
I have not tried to talk anyone into anything.
So if you “don’t give a shit” who I vote for, then you shouldn’t be so annoyed that I am voting green party.
I mean, as you implied, it doesn’t matter to you anyway, right?
People don’t care who you’re voting for, they care about you constantly proclaiming who you’re voting for. Let me explain. Silently voting third-party because you feel disillusioned and disenfranchised is one thing. It might be a wasted vote under the FPTP system, but it’s your right.
Posting everywhere about who you’re voting for - including spreading positive reinforcement about the Green Party - is not exercising your right to vote; it’s activism. There is nothing wrong with it on its own of course, but the key motivation behind activism is driving others to vote for your cause.
At this point you’re not just exercising your personal right to participate in the democracy, you’re actively driving opinion and influencing (or attempting to) other voters. If you had no interest in doing this, you would just silently vote for Jill Stein. Hell, by your own admission you started the Green Party community here on Lemmy.
The thing people are getting upset at are third-party activists - particularly in a precarious election such as this. No matter how much you might want party-list proportional representation, the fact of the matter is you currently exist within the limits of FPTP. And within that system, third-party activism dilutes the vote, which is what people are upset at - especially given the stakes.
And I am ONLY proclaiming it when they start yelling at me. Take a look and the threads of people yelling at me.
On Lemmy? The biggest democrat echo chamber outside of Reddit. I can give my opinion. And you can ignore it. I’m not “influencing” anyone.
Then get a stronger candidate. I’m voting for who I want to because I want to. Regardless of how much Lemmy gets mad and tries to bully me. :)
People are yelling at you, that I’m not disputing. However…
Here is a top-level comment where you’re proclaiming voting third-party. Here is a post on the main politics sub promoting Jill Stein.
That’s not how social media works. If seeing opinions online couldn’t influence anyone Russia wouldn’t invest in bot and troll farms - but it can and they do.
This is not answering my argument. In fact, the silent implication of that statement essentially admits my point. Spelling it out: “get a better candidate [if you want to be less susceptible to my influence on voters opinions.]” This attempt to influence voters opinions is what people are upset by.
That wasn’t “promoting” Jill Stein. I said “3rd party” AND I said it so that I could avoid everyone calling me a MAGA Trumper. Which totally didn’t work, by the way.
That IS how social media works. So is everything you typing meant to “influence” me? Are you trying to “influence” me right now?! lol
This is Lemmy. A very HUGE echo chamber for the democrats. I am not “influencing” anyone in this thread or any others.
And I stand by everything I said.
Yeah, it’s my “right” to watch a person die of heart attack and not dial 911 also, but I’m not a huge asshole so I won’t be needing that “right”
So I’m an asshole because I am voting for someone you don’t like?! Ok…
Please remember our civility rule in this sub.
Please remember that your influence on the vulnerable matters. Voting in a way that is against immigrants, poor, transgender, etc is included in that. Yes, voting any way but against Trump is that.
And I do care about the vulnerable. Which is why I am voting for the Green Party.
No, it’s not. I don’t vote “against” people, I vote “for” people. As is my right as an American citizen.
I’m voting Green Party. Please stop trying to bully me.
No one is bullying you, stop lying about that and everything else
I am being bullied. Look at the things that are being said to me.
And what should I “stop lying” about? I haven’t lied about anything. What do you think I am lying about? Please keep the comments civil.
