Julie Araskog, a Council member, said that safety concerns weren’t just over the threats that Trump faced. Many of the elderly people that Florida is famous for live in the area, and they’re worried that the closure will affect care services and emergency vehicle access.

“Our residents don’t feel safe right now,” said Araskog.

Meanwhile, the mayor said one resident had told her they’d traveled an hour to make a delivery that normally would’ve taken ten minutes.

And the Town Manager, Kirk Blouin, was pretty direct himself: “We’re at the slowest point that we’re going to be and we’re already seeing the impacts.”

The bottom line is, the city is suffering, and Donald Trump is still holding fundraisers, many of them themed on the assassination attempt — the reason the road is closed in the first place.

    Emphasis added for wtf

It’s the fascist-revolutionary compound of an authoritarian leader. Let’s stop calling it a resort.

Perhaps one silver lining of Trumps scandal-after-scandal aura: the assassination attempt was just over a month ago, and it seems that almost everyone has forgotten about it.

Teflon Don perhaps works both ways.

I love that the article picture looks like he’s just been suckerpunched in the gut.

It’s very appropriate to the context and also something most of us would love to see happen 😁

I love that the press has never been kind to him when choosing photos to print. Petty, but a small bit of levity during the dark times.

        Absolutely!

To be fair, he’s so hideous inside and out that it’s almost impossible to find a flattering photo of him.

To give props when due, though, the press DOES tend to use some of the more entertainingly ridiculous ones 😁

Fuck off, now I won’t be able to say that phrase anymore 😂

Good points though. He’s no friend of the press and they’re not fussed with being friends of his either.

If I had an elderly family member who might be impacted by the closed road when emergency services were needed I’d be pissed.
