The Chicago PD is not going to stand by and watch the destruction of public or private property and have said so. I suspect there will be those that want to test that or encourage violence. Protesters should get no sympathy for the result.

If shit goes down, will the Genital Observation Party label the perps as ‘peaceful protesters’ and ‘hostages’?

Is there another way to discourage police violence without giving up civil rights?

“Able to defend yourself” to a cop means resisting arrest. You’re going to jail. And if you carry a weapon, then the charges increase.

Fighting cops does not discourage police violence. It gives them license to escalate. I mean, you honestly think some cops are going to go “oh shit, these people are fighting back, we better go home”? Or do they go get more buddies, armored vehicles and if necessary the National Guard?

You discourage it by changing policies and laws, which in turn requires getting voters to view you positively.

As an official anonymous house democrat, I’d like to say that I’m very scared of hearing words come from my constituents’ mouths. It’s a very violent act I’d like to see the police peacefully resolve with batons, tasers, and pepper spray. #IStandWithIsrael
