Impossible! I’ve got 20 other things to do before I can get to that, and none of them are getting done!

        Something something laundry!

You know it only takes two minutes to throw a load in downstairs and another two to toss it in the dryer after an hour?

You just don’t understand! I’ve been busy all day watching the kids!

By staring at Facebook or yarning for 90% of the time you watched them? You unironically equate scrolling Facebook while passively watching kids as they entertain themselves and watch TV as the same thing as working 40+ hours a week multiple times until someone points it out again.

Stay at home jobs are important and most of the ones who do are doing it because they had no great careers that offset the cost for daycare or nannies. But let’s not pretend like watching 1-2 toddlers is the same thing as working in a daycare or working a full-time job. Especially if the partner who works is doing their fair share when they are home. The monotony of watching children is something self fulfilling if you aren’t doing fun interesting stuff with them just like certain jobs can be.

I always found it an interesting parallel that someone’s PTO is the equivalent of doing the stay at home job lol. Like, your job is my vacation lol.

It’s always a weird little blind spot for so many people but definitely those with ADHD. Hard to see the forest for the trees and all that.
