Does it have a plug?
Does it have a plug?
Is there a way to install previous versions that doesn’t involve binary packages from ominous websites?
Switched to Deezer lately after getting annoyed of features being removed or worsened.
Deezer is roughly comparable to Spotify. And at least I am not supporting the near-monopolist now.
What’s your kill count in the trolley problem?
It’s not the looking-at-th-screen-thing, but rather the switching-the-camera-on-in-the-first-place-thing, the understanding-anything-at-all-while-the-screen-is-covered-in-people-thing and the not-being-a-total-exhausted-mess-who-needs-an-hourlong-pause-to-function-again-afterwards -thing.
So no, wouldn’t be useful, I am afraid.
Oh no, not that discussion again…
Just look at the right side of the thermometer in the image and forget all the over-complicated units of measurement from olden times, be it Fahrenheit, Celsius or some obscure eastern European equivalents.
They are all equally crappy definitions, if we are honest.
I am afraid I have to burn you back.
I speak SI, and that is actually the reason, why I questioned the metric on the right. You see, milli Electron Volt per Kelvin is neither a unit of temperature, nor does it make any other sense in this context that I am aware of.
But the thing is I just realized that there is no “Kelvin” on the right side, because the “K” in reality is a “k”. Would have been clearer if they had used the subscript kB, as in “Boltzmann-Konstante”.
Now it makes perfect sense, although it still is a somewhat weird unit to express a human body temperature in…
You are right, of course.
But I didn’t even notice the red gauge you are referring to because I was way too distracted by the temperature range and especially unit of measurement on the right… milli Electron Volts per Kelvin… yeah, ok…
WTF is that thermometer image supposed to show?
We have several hotels and company canteens that sell you what is left of breakfast buffet or lunch meals.
You have to bring your own food containers and get it filled to the brim with whatever didn’t go so well that day for a fraction of the price you would normally pay there.
Local tax office canteen saved us a lot of cooking ourselves that way :-)
Exotic or unusual ingredients you wouldn’t normally use for cooking.
Often also excessive amounts e.g. of bakery stuff that you have no chance of eating yourself and now have to try and distribute it among your friends and neighbours. :-)
Aaaand they prevent food waste as most of the surplus would be thrown away otherwise.
We have been using Too-Good-To-Go for quite a while now as well as local merchant’s initiatives.
It is also fun trying to figure out what to do with the stuff you got!
Have been thinking the same.
I have a serious anxiety when it comes to video calls. My direct colleagues know about it and don’t mind, but it is weird when having remote meetings involving other people. This is probably really harming my professional success.
So I was considering trying some Chatroulette like service to get more relaxed towards video calls, but was really put off when hearing about all the offensive sexual weirdness there.
Eyechat would omit that while still being near enough to a classic full-face video-call. I think this might actually work as some kind of exposure therapy. I might give it a try.
Interesting read, thank you!
And the page it is published on seems to be also quite cool. Science based journalism, exactly my thing.
So theconversation.com is now part of my news bookmarks.
Doesn’t help in summer…
The article itself sounds a lot more relaxed than the heading suggests.
Nonetheless, this is still stuff for c/fuckcars
Thanks a lot, this is really interesting and seems to be my TIL! I will definitely watch that video later.
And this also shines an interesting light on the unusually wide street layout of the city quarters I am living in. I’ve been always wondering about that…
Thing is, my part of town has been the living quarters of GI relatives of an adjacent US military base (up until about 25 years ago). Whole part of town basically has been “Little America” back then, complete with (at least partial) US jurisdiction. And they had their own fire department at the base…
Could anyone do a Too Long, Didn’t Watch?
I’m interested in what this is about but am not able to watch a video right now…
Your description fits, though.
Back to the old, but still very true quote:
“Piracy is a service problem.”
ls this meant for the staff or for the patients?
Either way it is time to talk to the responsible person to make it clear that this is neither appropriate nor helpful (and perhaps suggest some alternatives).
