Ah, damn. Thanks for the heads up. I’ll delete.
Is this what betrayal feels like?
This is why I love TNG so much. Even though TOS is the original that laid the groundwork for everything, TNG took that “boundless optimism” and ran with it. Watching TNG inspires me to continue to self-improve and encourage it in others.
I swear I learn more about LOTR from comment sections under memes than anywhere else.
Omg, thanks! I noticed that it had hit a million recently, and I was thinking about writing up a post to commemorate it and maybe share some thoughts about my experience posting like a madman on the fediverse for 6-7 months so far. If I do, it’ll probably be on the c/fediverse community, unless anyone can think of a more fitting one.
I’m also surprised it’s still visible! My instance upgraded to 0.19 recently, which supposedly takes away the upvote count from your profile view. I was secretly hoping to make it to one million before the upgrade happened… Lol
(Edit: also glad to hear you got into TNG!)
I found it under a post where people were talking about living in NYC.
Wow, when they were practically giving those away, I figured they were washing their hands of it. It’s amazing that it’s still being supported.
This is mind blowing
Ha, my wife does this too because she’s read the books and I haven’t.
If management hadn’t created that PR disaster, these people would probably still have jobs.
People keep their defenses up more when they have to do “facework”. If you’re not having to make eye contact, it’s easier to speak freely.
Even though it’s rare these days, it’s the reason behind that whole Freudian idea of therapy where the patient lies on the couch and isn’t looking at the clinician.
They talk about a few causes, but this is the gist of it for anyone who doesn’t want to click:
Researchers cited the pandemic as the biggest factor in the widening gender gap; it took a heavier toll on men. Unintentional injuries and poisonings (mostly drug overdoses), accidents and suicide were other contributors.
I’m not an expert on these and didn’t realize there was a difference. Did this one sell out?
Wise words as always, Zapp.
This is the first time I’ve seen the original tweet without Johnny Silverhand
Usually, but I love the optimistic fanfare of the TNG intro, and it has a habit of drawing me in.
