I suspect that what you really mean is that whenever a politician says whatever police powers are required to protect children, they really just want more power to violate privacy to make it easier to prosecute various crimes.

If he were to go to jail now you’d never hear the end of it. As though the US was stolen by the radical left, imprisoning political opponents et cetera. Obviously that’s not a narrative based in reality, but it would be the prevailing narrative amongst conservatives none the less.
The republicans would fall inline behind someone equally repulsive, if just a tiny bit more electable.
The best way forward for everyone is for him to lose convincingly in November, and then send his ass to proper jail with no twitter or diapers et cetera.
On a prison diet with no prospects he will become frail and irrelevant in a matter of weeks. Even his own children wouldn’t bother to visit because jail is icky and their bread is already buttered really. It’s the outcome he deserves and I would very much like to see it.
This is the only way the republican party would dial back the weirdness.

Most of the replies you’ve received are trying to explain that saying “men” are what is wrong with “people” is a generalisation that is unhelpful and harms all men.
It’s true that the perp is a man, and it’s also true that most violence against women is perpetrated by men. However, that doesn’t mean there’s a causal link between being a man and assaulting women.
It’s much more likely that the addressable causes underlying this “man’s” actions are poverty, lack of mental health support, and cultural norms including but not limited to religion.

Australia checking in … I feel similarly about the attitude of doctors and the type of care I receive. I don’t have any amazing advice that you’re not already following, but I’ll regale you with my thoughts regardless…
About 18 months ago I developed a chronic health condition that I will need to manage for the rest of my life (hopefully several decades). In that time I’ve seen a myriad of medical professionals.
My first tip would simply be that if you’re not satisfied with a doctor or specialist, your only recourse it to arrange to see another instead. Sometimes the advice / treatment prescribed will vary significantly, sometimes they just have a less punchable face.
As regards GPs, I’ve come to categorise them thusly: those that just prescribe meds without any conversation, those that try to manipulate you into wanting the meds they want to prescribe, and those that will have a conversation with you about what meds you ought to take. Obviously this last category is the one you want.
Finally, I’ve gotten a lot of mileage out of simply staying on top of all the data about me. I have all my test results available on my phone, as well as medications, dates of treatments, contact details for specialists, et cetera. Also just understanding the available treatments.
I’m morbidly interested to see what happens.

What sickens me is that they planned this. They strategised how to get in there with the cameras, and how to respond to the inevitable outcry that would follow.
Their statements in the immediate aftermath are vulgar. The comment about an employee who was suffering a mental health episode trying to stop them. I imagine that employee was upset at seeing the sacrilegious trampling of the dignity of the fallen soldiers in her care.
It’s also not lost on me that if anyone thought for a second that any political campaign would be so low as to try this, there would be security in place to prevent it. These scum are willing to stoop that low.

This is simply not the reality I live in. I’ve never known someone to attack someone over a woman, nor their fragile state of mind?
I’ve certainly never experienced any of this and while mass shootings and robberies do occur they’re so rare that being a victim of such a crime is not a tangible risk.
Honestly you’re more likely tripping over your shoelace and dying than any of these things actually happening.
