Trump must have an extraordinarily crushing sense of self-doubt and inadequacy.
He spends 100% of his time trying to convince people that he’s the man. And yet most of the people around him can see that he’s not the man. Even most of the people who tell him he’s the man are just faking it for their own power, such as his own VP.
If he loses this election, his stack of cards are at grave risk of finally tumbling as he can no longer protect those who have been protecting him.
It’s easy to see how he’s flailing for literally any solid ground at this point in time.
It’s a strange duality though.
Polls are indicating he’s on the verge of becoming supreme eternal leader of the world, but he’s simultaneously the world’s biggest loser and most hated philanderer.

Well, can one incoherent person with such a backlog of criminal problems be strong enough to keep this position of the candidate?
He’s clearly a figure for some force the identity of which is very unclear. He doesn’t have any strength himself.
EDIT: Ah, and the complete change of his “close circle” hints at this too. I suspect even the main reason to choose them among his family is optics. It’s a candidate with well-designed appearance, those who don’t look closer see either their traditionalist savior or a fascist PoS, those who look closer see a walking corpse surrounded by shady crooks, and neither generally think how did the situation come to that being one of the two choices in an election.
