But yes. As others have stated, you argue opinions. Not facts. And neither of you is really correct. You value different things. For example he values progress more than authors copyrights. And I find his points you mentioned valid. As are yours.

I however believe, you can agree on any topic with a “smart/sane enough” person with “enough time/motivation” and “similar enough values” as you if you are also such a person.

In that case one or the other will change his mind.

Those conditions are rarely met and the most important part is you also have to be open to changing your mind.

But the reasoning stays the same.

1. Optimistic person. And if saying “this idea might just work” encourages people you love to try things, then it also helps people you love.
2. We could debate on what “overly” means. If you believe you will win the lottery this is just stupid and naive, but if you believe you can start a profitable restaurant this is not overly optimistic. Still you must not be stupid when trying.

4. Correct if you are realistic and not pessimistic. My hot take should be formed: “People who claim are realists are most often just pessimists, who will pass all ideas as bad”. Actually to continue from here we should exactly define all the words we are using. And in this case it would not be a hot take anymore. Also I believe to decide to try and take interview you must feel optimistic about it instead of pessimistic.

My hot take is targeting “realists” who say: “Your idea is bad. Do not pursue it. I am just being realistic.” Even though their idea has maybe small but fair chance of succeeding. This is just discouragement - which is more often seen in pessimists.

DHCP only acts in local networks which is in 90%:

1. home network where you trust every device to not spy on you
2. office network where in most cases your emloyer provided you with the hardware. And in 10%:
3. Public WiFi

The only thing leaked in DHCP is your MAC. Attacker can use this info to identify brand of our network adapter. Or if they have really huge database of laptop manufacturers attacker can identify your device. If you use VPN or TOR the only thing they know from now on is that you use VPN or TOR. And if they really have everything in that database they will be able to tell who bought that computer. So now attacker can only knows who is in their netwotk.

Which is useless in scenario 1. and 2. Where you already know who is in your network and owner of that network has no database to identify you based on your MAC.

In scenario 3. If we are talking about huge public networks like WiFi provided from your town. If infiltrated by 3 letter agencies which may have such database they could theoretically track your location based on which town network you connected to.

But you can protect yourself from this:

1. Do not connect to public networks
2. Your OS/Network card driver allow you to use random MAC address. Just enable random MAC in your network settings. In Android: WiFi > Select specific network > Privacy > Use randomized MAC.

Also take note some general location tracking can already be done through mobile networks.

Who is stopping you from taking a break? My hot take is just a general recommendation, especially for people you love.

1. I like useful delusions.
2. If you are optimistic for others you ancourage them to do stuf. Doing some stuff that may not work is 100000% better than watching Netflix/TV. Especially in current nihilistic social climate.

Example: Pessimist: I will not get this job -> So I will not even apply -> 0% chance of getting a job -> 100% correct Optimist: I will get this job -> I apply and prepare -> 20% chance of getting this job -> 20% correct But who cares if you are correct. What matters is taking a chance. This comes way more useful if you are optimistic every day. So you apply for a job whenever there is a chance. And if you apply for 10 jobs from initial 20% you get 89% chance to get a good job.

Being naive is not the same as being optimistic.

Realists are just pessimists.

You should be an optimist even if you are faking it. To lift others up.

TLDR: Scouts are about nature AND religion. Not just nature. There are many organisations that are just about nature. Feel free to join them.

For real. Just because you believe it is about nature? Scout organizations are clearly about nature AND religion.

Join an organization that is just about nature.

In my country we have two strong scout organisations. One religious and one not. Religious one focused more on a personal growth and the other one more on nature skills. (Well some of my friends in religious one were atheists they just had to practice the same activities)

Churches do not accept atheists. Chess clubs discriminate against non chess players.

But if they would include non chess players, chess clubs would have no meaning.

One can see you do not hold religions in high regard, but please allow people with the same interests and believes to meet and express themselves together in a peaceful manner.
