“We the people” voted for it! There was no big reveal after the election; it was well known that Project 2025 was the goal. Anyone who says otherwise had their head in the sand for the last 6 months.
A lot of Trump voters are horribly uninformed. They didn’t know - and still don’t know - what Project 2025 is. They thought it was fearmongering because they only heard about it from Dems. They have no idea what’s happening right now, nor do they care. All they know is their team won, and they’re otherwise tuned out. Maybe they’ll wake up when they feel the effects, but they’ll probably just blame Democrats because Fox News tells them to.
Those were willfully ignorant and they will remain so until they hurt bad or die, no amoubt of information will change that

I’d like to also tell you about the time an English brigadier responded “pretty sticky down here” when asked about the situation - ~600 Brits were surrounded by ~10k Chinese. Of course, the American General who had asked him didn’t think twice of it, but apparently when a brit says “a bit sticky” it means “we’re all about to die”, not “oh it’s not too bad”. About 40 survived.

if it’s not the start of a general strike idgaf. a single day of protests works about as well as blacking out a subreddit.
General strikes take a pretty large mass. To build that, a very important step is making sure more people are aware of how many are committed to resistance.
It’s like being invited to a party, and the host says “Well, you’re one of the first ten people I’ve invited, but I’m encouraging others to share-” and you just reply “Nope, I’m not going unless there’s already a million people going.” Of course, in this case, the protest has been shared outside of just Lemmy, so don’t use local numbers as an indicator.
Right; what do people expect, here? A “general strike” that someone calls at random won’t do much more than a few extra people calling in sick. It takes time to build solidarity to agree that we’re all going to do this. If we had that kind of solidarity, I don’t think we’d be in this position in the first place.
That’s my take as well.
Unless this goes on with some critical infrastructure impacted for at least a few weeks, it’s utterly pointless.
Everyone just call in sick. Say it is because you didn’t want any vaccines.
I feel like the issue is with our fellow citizens who voted for him and the congressmen/woman. You can protest all you want but they’ll keep getting elected.
If you can disrupt businesses enough then the oligarchs holding Trump’s leash will start telling him to behave.
