The Supreme Court members who outed themselves as pro-corruption need to be given the 'Vote of No Confidence" treatment. Not just Kavanaugh, Alito, and Thomas, also remove the ones who quietly voted for post action bribes to be legal.

That’s crazy! You mean like the greenbook that was written for traveling Black Americans during the Jim Crow era so they could avoid places like sundown towns and businesses that refused services to POC? Sorry if that’s not what you meant, it’s the only greenbook I’m familiar with… unless greenbook is a general term for avoiding places filled with racism?
Either way I had no idea that prejudice towards the Irish was still prevalent up into the 80’s. Thats…really something else.
I have gotten dirty looks for talking to my dog in gaelic(she understood commands in both english and gaelic). The US really isn’t friendly to any other languages at all. I’m also in a blue state.
It’s gotta be WAY worse for POC. Like… scary worse…especially for folks stuck in red states. There are some cultural aspects of the US that really need updating. Like the rampant xenophobia.
You are definitely right that this is a manipulative move on Trump’s part to make Biden look bad and get out if this debate.
But aren’t most people in their 80’s on a bunch if drugs anyway? Like blood pressure pills, cholesterol medicine, diuretics, arthritis medication etc? I’m not trying to stereotype older folks, but every person I’ve met over 60 seems to take a lot of pills… that help them live and perform actions they couldn’t otherwise.
Reddit is going to end up just being trolls arguing with bots and corporate shills… if it isn’t already. I haven’t been there in a long time, but I’m fairly confident in that assessment.
What i really wonder about is how long a site can profit off of the majority of activity coming from bots. I’m not tech savvy enough to know if the analytics can tell the difference between a bot posting and a person. How long can that go on before the site stops being profitable via ads? Will companies pay to advertise to bots? Would they even know? It’s kinda funny to think about honestly.
It’ll be really interesting to see how reddit’s downfall comes to be though.
That’s interesting, I’ve been having way better luck digging around on ddg. Google just seems to serve up ads when I’m trying to research a company or something and won’t give me what I’m looking for.
Maybe its the types of things I search for though. It’s really hard to say
I know I’m super late on this, but just in case anyone reading this is worried about accidentally leaving their kids in the car a friend of mine figured out a great solution.
Get a long leash and pull it through part of the carseat and pull the clip end through the wristhole so it’s a loop and it is now tied to the carseat. Use the clip and clip it to your belt loop on your pants, or purse or whatever is attached to you. Now you can’t get out of your car without your kid.
She swears by it and made a habit of clipping herself after she puts on her seatbelt. It’s kinda silly, but thought I’d share. It’s cheaper than buying a new car with backseat alarms and not as irritating as taking off a shoe,
Try using the duckduckgo search engine. I switched recently and the search results are way better than Google now. I get what I’m looking for first try more often than not.
They could start wearing those lead vests radiologists put on you when you get an xray alongside the aluminum hats. We know those definitely block radiation at least. Maybe a combo would make it block mind control rays extra good.
Have you seen people coal rolling? I see it all the time. I get the feeling they love oil companies. People who buy huge, gas guzzling SUVs and oversized trucks they dont need dont seem to have an issue with them.
Also governments are made up of people… often elected officials that were VOTED for. I’m not saying everyone loves oil companies. But they convince enough people to like them enough to keep making money.
And that lobbying I mentioned earlier? Yeah, that’s what keeps the rest of us locked into using their products whether we want to or not. They convinced someone, somewhere to stifle competition like EVs.
They convince people we need their product despite the damage they cause. They still get investors and convince them their company is profitable. They spend billions of dollars lobbying against alternative energy sources like solar, nuclear, and wind… convincing people they aren’t as viable as oil…when some already are and others could be with more R&D.
They convince governments to allow for more oil drilling sites, despite the environmental risks.
They do A LOT convincing all the time.
But you asked how pissing people off has ever convinced anyone of anything. Oil companies successfully do it all the time. Or any muilti billion dollar industry really.
I’m fully aware that money is the difference, and that’s exactly why we shouldn’t be shitting on the protesters.
We should be asking ourselves why it makes us so angry when protesters cause “damage” but dont have the same reaction to oil companies causing way more damage for profit. Human psychology is interesting.
I don’t know… oil companies piss off lots of people when they cause oil spills…and yet they’re rolling in profits day in and day out.
Maybe these protesters are trying imitate how oil companies behave since its works so well for them?
Damage the environment and make money if your an oil CEO. Temporarily color stone henge with zero damage and everyone loses their minds. Kinda backwards if you ask me.
They should have it written in gaelic since the first woman hung for witchcraft in the United States was an Irish servant who didn’t speak English very well.
Apparently being unable to say the Lords Prayer in English is proof you’re a witch… so they killed her.
This is why my husband and I got married after 10 years together. Originally neither of us cared because we were essentially already married. But doing it officially then I could be on his insurance, and if anything happens where one of us gets incapacitated the other can make healthcare decisions. Sucks that’s how it works though.
Thank you. I have never been to Disney world/land. Not as a kid, and won’t as an adult. I’d rather stay home and play video games with my husband than go stand in a line across the country.
I mean, don’t have kids, but even if I did I’d take them hiking for free at the state forest and go catch grasshoppers or something.
Even out here in the rural areas people who have these ridiculous, oversized, luxery trucks aren’t using them for actual work. I guess that was kinda my point. People who haul stuff want something affordable that can take a bit of a beating. Not some gas guzzling humongous thing that doesn’t even offer more hauling space.
Those trucks are definitely not being built for work. I hate them because finding a decent work truck that won’t bankrupt me is becoming a huge hassle.
American here looking to buy a truck that’s not absurdly oversized and over priced. I need it to haul hay and bring garbage to the dump. I save a couple hundred a year for bringing my own garbage instead of doing trash pick up, and hay deliveries cost way more than they used to.
Plus my rural area requires driving everywhere and the winters are pretty bad so a 4 wheel drive vehicle is good to have for going to work or emergencies.
I’m looking into those tiny Japanese kei trucks as a potential alternative if I can’t find something that’s reasonable though.
It’s a phenomenon that’s been observed across multiple sports, not just between men and women chess players. It’s particularly poignant in men vs women’s chess… because of people repeatedly telling women they are inherently worse than men. Like you are doing right now.
There’s been multiple studies on this. So yes, I side with the data that stereotype threat phenomenon has a significant impact on women’s performance in chess against men.
But how will the wealth addled convince us pleblians to spend money on worthless garbage? Or convince us that we’re ugly and not good enough so we buy their products? Oh the humanity!
In all seriousness, advertising has had way too much of an influence on our culture and it needs to be properly regulated. I’m sick of being negged by beauty product ads.
